Drone Sound Compared, with and without Moisture Control System fitted
Some other pipers have comment on previous clips, that using a moisture control sytem stifles the sound of the drones.
Can you tell the difference ? Which situation has the moisture contol system A or B ? I have edited out the beginning and end of each clip, since having the m.c.s. in, improves the starts and finishes, so that would be a dead give away.
The m.c.s. I use is the V3 Drier System, by Robert Mathieson.
The drones are McCallum's and made of Acetyl.
The drone reeds are "Rocket Reeds" by Mark Lee (USA).
Camera was about 11m away: I used the Rode Stereo Video Microphone for the sound, and my Panasonic HS700 camera.
In both situations I placed my right hand on the pipe bag and could feel the resonance of the drones. I really do not condider that utilising a m.c.s. has any detrimental effect on the sound of the drones at all.
Please comment on what YOU think.
